The lessons in this issue explore prejudice, racism, and related issues. Students are encouraged to talk positively about themselves and others and to identify and respect various cultures, especially those represented in their own classroom. Activities culminate in the creation of a “Kids Bridge” display, a replica of a past Smithsonian traveling exhibit that promoted cultural and ethnic diversity and provided a means for children to explore the problems of discrimination and racism.
