Celebration!
Getting Started

The lessons in this issue introduce students to the celebratory rituals of various cultures. The students compare birthday rituals from other cultures with those of their own. Include are a history of the song “Happy Birthday,” objects from Smithsonian collections, and a photo album of celebrations and special occasions from across the globe.

Students research and report on personal and community birthday rituals around the world, as well as create their own piñata.
