The Children Raised Kale: A Story of Growing…and Growing…from Seed to Maturity
Getting Started

The lessons in this issue introduce students to gardening and plants. Students learn the history of gardening and the difference between a formal and natural garden.

The activities ask students to study the six basic plant parts and to identify them while observing plants on a class visit to a garden. They then grow their own plant in individual pots and put on their own classroom garden show. An activity sheet with a matching game is provided.

Note: This is an archival publication dating back to 1983 and any supplements or suggestions for off-site education may not be available.
