ARTLAB+ Animation
How would you bring an artwork to life? Put your vision in motion. Use techniques like drawing, stop-motion, Flash, and more to craft an original animated short. You’ll work with a professional animator, create a short film, and screen your work in the Hirshhorn. For ages 13–19. Lunch provided daily.

Does your school picture do you justice? Want to say more about who you are? Looking at famous people and portraits, using cameras, smart phones and more you will create a portrait during this workshop. What will your portrait say about YOU? For Ages 13–16. Lunch is provided daily.

ARTLAB+ Game Design (powered by the Institute of Play)
How do you turn a great idea into a great game? Using the Hirshhorn Museum as inspiration and a game board, you’ll play, analyze, and create games for your friends. Get creative with digital tools and discover ways that mobile technologies can enhance how games are made and played. No technology or game design experience is needed. For ages 13–19. Lunch provided daily.

SCVNGR:
Puzzled by art? Get a clue! Find your favorite artworks, investigate their stories, then make a scavenger hunt for the world to play on their phones. You’ll build clues on the SCVNGR platform, test out your game, then play others’ SCVNGR games. At the end of the week, your SCVNGR will be available for any museum visitor to play! For ages 13–19. Lunch provided daily.

ARTLAB+ Radio Station
Calling all aspiring broadcasters! ARTLAB+ is building a radio station. We’re looking for on-air talent, production, video and music directors, station managers, and content writers to launch a new station for teens, by teens. For ages 13–19. Lunch provided daily.

Mission Possible: Teaching in the 21st Century
What does learning look like in the 21st century? How can classroom learning integrate 21st century change? Join the Mobile Learning Institute at the Smithsonian Institution (MLI-SI) this summer for an active exploration of these questions. Collaborate with other teachers to solve missions while using mobile technologies and digital media. Explore the resources of the Smithsonian and Washington, DC. Converse with subject-matter experts. Come with ideas and be prepared to problem-solve and get creative! By the week's end, you'll have a unique plan for incorporating museum resources, mobile technology and digital media into your own 21st century classroom. For teachers of all grade levels and subject areas. Lunch provided daily.
