Compare these two textiles. The Saltillo design on the right has obviously influenced the Mayo sarape on the left. The elements they have in common are the dominant diamond design, centered on a simple background, and the border around the edges.   Saltillo Poncho

The Mayos also make less fancy blankets, called cobijas, which are more loosely woven and have simple striped patterns. The cobija  on the right features a simple design of narrow stripes of alternating colors running from one edge to the other.    Mayo Cobija
