Dread History:
The African Diaspora,
Ethiopianism, and Rastafari

Rastafari Elders at the 1989 Festival of American Folklife
Through the inception and popularity of reggae, the roots of Rastafari
have spread throughout the Caribbean, to North American and European metropoles
like London, New York, Amsterdam, Toronto, and Washington, D.C., as well
as to the African continent itself. Pictured here are Elders from Jamaica
participating in a Smithsonian Institution Festival of American Folklife.
