Bag, Mohave. Collected by Helenus Dodt from the Mohave Indians in Arizona. Acquired for the Smithsonian Institution by Edward Palmer in 1871. Department of Anthropology, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, cat. no. E010536, acc. no. 00002242.

Dimensions: 15 in. x 12 in.

Technique: Weft-twined.

Fibers: 1-ply, plant fiber, natural tan and dyed red, blue, and brown, Z-spin; base of bag is a different, stiffer plant fiber, natural tan. A fringe of natural tan plant fiber decorates the top of the bag.

Design: Bands of alternating colors in natural tan and dyed red, blue, and brown.
