Non-Indians often decorated their homes with curio looms, pottery, baskets, and other items produced by Indian people in the southwestern United States. An "Indian Corner" in the living room or parlor became fashionable during the Victorian era. The one pictured here was created by J.H. Bratley in his home in Wichita, Kansas, during the first decade of the twentieth century. Bratley acquired these objects while he taught at various Indian schools in the West.
