Agueda Martínez was a master weaver of northern New Mexico. Over the course of her long life, she taught many people how to weave, including several generations of her own family.

Martínez died in 2000. In the last week of her life, she completed a large weaving and then wove a small piece from the threads left on her loom. The following day, she became ill and died three days later. She was 102 years old.
