The lessons encourage the study of fossils in the classroom so that students can not only learn about what the earth was like millions of years ago, but also how scientists have devised time charts to organize this evidence of the earth’s geologic history.
Students call upon writing and observation skills as they learn what fossils are, consider some ways in which fossils are formed, look at examples of uses of fossil materials in everyday life, and even make models of different fossil types.
