Tomorrow’s Forecast: Oceans and Weather
Getting Started

The lessons in this issue encourage educators and students to think about the profound influence the oceans have on us, no matter how far from the ocean we live. It includes discussions of how ocean currents influence weather patterns and climate, including El Niño.

Students identify ocean currents and the relationship between trade routes and ocean currents, conduct an experiment on the differing heat capacities of water and air, and find and label port cities around the globe.
