Kono Takashi, Sheltered Weaklings, 1953. Silk screen, 98.5 x 72.5 cm. Atelier Deska
Created as a personal response to the 1951 San Francisco
peace agreement, Kono described his design's purpose by saying he wished
to caution his fellow citizens against meekly following the "big American
fish" in cultural, political, and social ways. |
