At war's end, Yamana Ayao (1897-1980), long famous as a
designer for Shiseido cosmetics, turned his talents to noncommercial purposes.
This somber poster for the War Calamity Relief Society called attention
to the needs of Japanese refugees, particularly women and children, returning
from China.
