Blanket, Mayo. Collected by Eugene H. Boudreau in the early 1960s in Bacabachi, Sonora, Mexico. Department of Anthropology, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, cat. no. E429181, acc. no. 00416144.

Dimensions: 72.5 in. (warp without fringe) x 58 in. (weft); fringe = 4 in.

Technique: Tapestry weave.

Thread count: Warp = 8/in.; Weft = 10/in.

Fibers: Warp = 1-ply handspun wool yarn, natural white, Z-spin. Weft = 1-ply handspun wool yarn, natural white, gray, tan, and brown, Z-spin.

Design: A central diamond motif in natural white, gray, tan, and brown is set on a natural white background with floral and leaf auxiliary motifs. All are framed by a brown border with floral and leaf auxiliary motifs on the ends, and a zigzag pattern along the sides. Tassels from the warps are braided at both ends.
